I was once again reminded that sometimes I just don't know when to shut up.
So today at my church's gymnasium, a couple of us were playing half-court ball. I don't know why, but with this certain individual...let's call him Bob Oh...I just have to talk trash. And when I get going, there's simply no stopping me. I just talk and talk and talk... It's interesting because trash-talking makes me play better. I play with more intensity and with pride, having something to prove to the other person. Anyways, Bob Oh and I went back and forth, making shots over each other. I'd like to say that I had the better performance, but he'd probably disagree. However, on one play, Bob managed to get past me and positioned himself to shoot an uncontested 2-foot jumper. As I was playing for my dignity, I charged at this guy and jumped, attempting to block his shot. Sadly, he faked the shot and I crashed right into his back...with my member... Ouch! I think I was on the floor for at least 3 minutes or so, yelling in pain. The ironic thing was that even on the floor, I just would not shut up. I kept talking trash like an arrogant fool. I didn't know I was capable of this, but lo and behold, I am an idiot. Anyways, we lost that game and I pretty much shut up after that.
I only realized later that sometimes I need to shut up sooner.
Shut up, Alex...Shut up...
